This thesis presents a systematic approach to studying incidents and avoiding hazards in petrochemical industrial facilities using an automated method known as automated HAZOP. As a case study, the methodology was applied to the atmospheric heater in the atmospheric distillation unit U-10 at the Skikda petroleum refinery complex. Where we conducted a traditional HAZOP study on the heater, then created the cause-and-effect table for the dynamic simulation. The method provides automated results for interpreting specific phenomena and occurring deviations, enabling workers to respond quickly in order to avoid hazards
